Big changes!
Wow, has it really been 4 months since my last update?? I’m so sorry everyone, life has been a little bit hectic!
Winter of course was tough, lots of miserable snow, and my snow blower broke (twice!) so I had to do some shoveling by hand…
These last two images are from the last week of April! But thankfully, all the snow is gone now. (I hope it stays that way!)
I’ve also been trying to exercise diligently. With the winter snow making walking around very difficult, I wanted to make sure I stayed in shape for when I could go hiking again. My friend gave me his old exercise machine, and it works pretty well! I really work up a sweat on it.
I’ve also been very fortunate, some of my dear students sent me some packages from Japan! I could taste some very nostaligic treats, and I even got to make some Japanese curry for the first time in a long time!
And since you all know I love Pikachu, I asked my friend in Osaka to send me some of the limited-edition Pikachu ketchup! :D
Another thing I’ve been working on is finally getting my driver’s license! My husband is being very kind and helping me practice, especially my parking. Reverse is tricky for me, but I think I’m getting better at it! I’ll be trying the road test to get my full license in two weeks, so wish me luck! :D
But by far, the biggest piece of news, and the situation that has kept me busy for the past few months is that my husband and I were working on buying our house!
We’ve been renting from a landlord for the past 15 years or so, and she offered to sell the house to us. After a lot of paperwork, and dealng with lawyers and companies and emails… we finally did it! Now we own our house! :D
This opens up a lot of opportunities for us, but it also comes with extra responsibilities… for example, I’m now responsible for fixing problems around the house, and I’m proud that I did my first repair! One of the bedroom windows wouldn’t close, so I had to take it apart, buy a new part, and put it back together. It wasn’t so difficult, so I’m happy my first action as a landlord went well!
This is the old arm that was cracked and wouldn’t open the window anymore…
And here’s the new one!
So that’s my news! In June, a friend of mine will visit for the month, so I’ll be busy again, but I’ll also have lots of pictures, hopefully! I’ll try not to let another 4 months go by before my next update, though…
